Saturday, April 20th 9am--Great Strides for Cystic Fibrosis. Cystic Fibrosis Foundation (CFF) began in 1955 and is the world’s largest fundraising organization for research to find a cure for Cystic Fibrosis. More than 75 chapters exist in the U.S. with the local office located in Norfolk, VA. Before the CFF formed, the average child living with CF only lived to see the age of 5; today the average life expectancy is 37 years.
Each spring CFF hosts Great Strides, a fundraising event that features a 3 mile walk, food, music and kid’s activities. More than 700 Great Strides walks will take place across the country in 2013. Great Strides will take place here locally on Saturday, April 20 at Neptune’s Park in Virginia Beach from 9:00am-1:00pm.
Those interested in registering can participate as an individual or as part of a team. All registration may be done on-line at www.cff.org/great_strides. Registration for the event is free but it is asked that each participant fundraise for CFF.
